Description

During this course, we will learn to accompany folk melodies. We will work on the basics of folk harmony, as well as the most common rhythms used in this genre musical. We will start from melodies (jigs, scottish, polska, an dro, haunt dro, waltz ...) that we will learn to play, before harmonizing them. The work will focus on the one hand on first oral learning of melodies (better for memory), their transposition to the instrument, then to harmony.

We will be particularly interested in the tuning in DADGAD, which is used by most folk guitarists, which opens up enormous possibilities of accompaniment.

No prior knowledge of music theory is necessary. The scores and tabs of the songs learned, as well as any audio and video recordings befor the course, in order to facilitate memorization work during the session.
