Description
During this week of experimentation and creation, we will immerse our hands in the dough to discover or rediscover the pleasure of making paper by hand.
To begin, we will discover the fibers that are used to make paper. We will work on making the sheets using recycled pulp and cotton, linen or abaca pulp. We will test the cooking and handling of plant fibers such as corn, iris, daylily or kozo in order to transform them into paper.
As the days go by, we will gradually enter into research and creation work around color, relief, material, transparency, volume, composition. We will observe together the variations linked to the way in which we form the leaf or how we dry it.
Learning will be supported by theoretical contributions and examples of artists whose practice is centered on papermaking.
