Description

During the workshop we will approach the work of textile materials in volume without limiting ourselves to sewing.

The first days several techniques will be taught:

Felting, that is to say, working with wool in 3 dimensions, with hot water and soap but also with a needle.

Shibori in 3 dimensions, working with fabric in volume consisting of fixing permanent folds on textiles using heat. (Don’t hesitate to look at images on the internet)

We will also cover the basics of pattern making, how to create a simple volume from a pattern.

Each participant will be able to develop a personal formal research using these techniques around themes such as the notions of interior/exterior, organic... playing on contrasts of colors and materials to create evocative sculptural objects, stimulating the imagination without ever copy or depict any existing nature.

Reference artists: Louise Bourgeois, Annette Messager, Ernesto Neto, Joana Vasconcelos, Claes Oldenburg..
