Baroque gambist and cellist Barbara Hünninger, born into a family of musicians, was immersed in Baroque sounds from an early age.

She began her musical training on the cello in Basel and discovered the viola da gamba as a young adult. It was with Emmanuelle Guigues (viola da gamba) and Hilary Metzger (baroque cello) that she began to specialize in early music, eventually joining Marianne Muller's viola da gamba class at the CNSMDL (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon). After obtaining her Master's degree with unanimous acclaim, she moved to Belgium to study the baroque cello with Hervé Douchy at the CRB (Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles). In 2022, she obtained her Master's degree from the CRB, as well as her pedagogical diploma from the IMEP (Institut Royal de Musique et de Pédagogie) in Namur.

She has performed in concert with various ensembles, including her viol ensemble Archipel Consort, Ensemble 0 (contemporary music), Les Kapsber'girls, Les Abbagliati, L'Achéron, La Cetra d'Orfeo and the Hathor Consort, and currently teaches viola da gamba at the Leuven Conservatory (BE), the Schoten Academy (BE) and in private lessons in Brussels.
