Geneviève Ensch

Trained as a graphic designer, I've always been passionate about letters, lines and signs. I immediately felt at home when I discovered the world of Latin calligraphy: a discipline that is both ancestral and contemporary.

Since then, I've been constantly exploring ancient and foreign spellings. What makes this discipline fascinating in my eyes is that it finds its place in contemporary approaches. I keep coming back to ancient scripts to create my own, explore new forms and test new tools.

Although I mainly use metal nibs, I also experiment with brushes, pipettes, calamari, cardboard, wooden crates, erasers, pencils... Each tool induces the search for mastery to find the right trace.
