Thomas Plancade was born in 1999 and took his first steps on the mandolin at the Conservatoire de Béziers (France), in the class of Paquita Jimenez. It was Paquita Jimenez who instilled in him a love of the instrument. He then went on to perfect his skills with Fabio Gallucci, before joining Vincent Beer-Demander's class at the Conservatoire Royal de Liège (Belgium), where he graduated in 2022 with a master's degree in music for teaching purposes, with distinction.
Thomas takes part in numerous projects, courses and events in the world of mandolin, and has performed with the Estudiantina Biterroise, the Orchestre national de Montpellier, the Orchestre National à Plectres de France, the Cercle Royal de mandolinistes de Malmedy, the Orchestre à plectres AICOPI, the Orchestre du Conservatoire Royal de Liège, Hamilton et les 100 mandolines, the Ensemble à cordes pincées du Conservatoire Royal de Liège, and others.
He also performs in various chamber music ensembles:
In a quartet with Ricardo Sandoval, Katherine Lasso and Tony Coullet: Cuarteto del Sur (South American music).
As a duo (guitar and mandolin) with Gilles Dauby, or as a trio (guitar, harp and mandolin) with Chloé Delvenne and Gilles Dauby.
Since 2022, Thomas has been teaching at various schools in Belgium: Académie de musique de Malmedy, Académie Royale César Franck in Visé, La Lyre d'Orphée in Liège, Académie François Daneels in Tubize. He also teaches music in secondary schools in Malmedy and Stavelot.
In 2022, Thomas co-wrote with Tony Coullet a method for learning the mandolin for beginners. He has taken part in several recording projects, notably with Vincent Beer-Demander, Ricardo Sandoval and the Plucked String Ensemble of the Conservatoire Royal de Liège (album Latinos, 2019).
