Aurélie Charneux

2025-412 Aurélie Charneux

A trained classical clarinetist, epicurean, gourmand, jack-of-all-trades and poet, she developed a passion for music at an early age, choosing sound as her lifeline. After studying at the Conservatoire de Mons, Aurélie discovered Liège and decided to stay on. She went on to earn advanced diplomas in clarinet and chamber music.

An all-rounder, she performs from the street to the opera pit. For the past twenty years, she has been playing and/or composing with Klezmic Zirkus, les Anchoises, Odessalavie, Orchestra Vivo!, le Groupov, Mamaliga Orkestar... She has developed a particular attraction to Eastern European music, especially klezmer. This music has become her favorite playground which has led to collaborations with different artists.

For several summers, she hosted the Klezmer ensemble of the AKDT in Neufchâteau and organized several traditional music courses in Liège (Ecole Itinérante de Musique).

On a perpetual quest, she is constantly seeking to evolve her language. She recently brought together Simon Leleux and Nicolas Puma to work on her compositions.
