Aurélie Giet

The discovery of traditional/folk dance at the age of 14 set Aurélie on a path from which she has never deviated. Trained at numerous workshops in Belgium and abroad, including a long stay in Sweden in 2010, she has been developing an enthusiastic, precise and lively dance pedagogy for some twenty years. She shares her passion for the dance heritage of Wallonia, Sweden and other parts of Europe through workshops and courses, both nationally (notably at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles) and internationally (CMTN in France, among others).

Her training in anthropology (UCL) has also nurtured her curiosity and led her to reflect on the cultural aspects of these dances and musics. She strives to pass on these questions, as well as the knowledge she gleans from her encounters, readings and observations.

Also a musician, she works to heighten awareness and intensity of the organic link between music and dance. Whether on stage or on the dance floor, her mission is to engage a wide variety of audiences in joyful encounters, making the pleasure of dancing accessible to as many people as possible.

Finally, in 2018, she and her children joined the wonderful adventure of Cirque Pacotille, enabling her to broaden her artistic horizons, particularly with children and through various shows. With her equally multi-tasking colleagues, she puts on her clown skin to share with the public moments of lightness and poetry that touch all generations.

Current projects: 21 BOUTONS & Aurélie Giet (music and dance from Wallonia), Duo Tanghe-Coudroy & Aurélie Giet (music and dance from Sweden), Calamalys (folk ball), Cirque Pacotille ("the smallest of small circuses"), Blanche & Madeleine (children's show) and Duo de Clounes (as the name suggests).
