Robbe Kieckens

Robbe kieckens 2023-426

Robbe Kieckens, passionate about percussion from different corners of the globe, began his journey into the rhythmic world in Africa, where he spent his childhood. After years of experience in a variety of styles, he began to focus more and more on Middle Eastern percussion. Largely self-taught, he has honed his technique and knowledge with masters such as Zohar Fresco, Fahrettin Yarkin and Aleix Tobias.

Their different approaches to the rhythmic heritage each correspond to a part of Robbe Kieckens' playing, which, while respecting the various traditions, seeks to form its own language by enriching itself with all the different rhythmic languages it encounters. Robbe Kieckens collaborates with Lâmekân Ensemble, Tristan Driessens, Nathan Daems Village Quartet, HiM percussion ensemble, Soundroutes.

He teaches Oriental percussion at various schools in Brussels.
