Violinist and historian, Julien Maréchal has had a long-standing passion for traditional music. After classical training at the Académie d'Éghezée, he explored these vast repertoires through Irish music, notably with Kieran Fahy and Brendan McGlinchey. He would later broaden his horizons with inspiring musicians like Mia Marine, Gabriel Lenoir and Cécile Broché. It was only natural that he should turn his attention to repertoires from the musical traditions of Wallonia. He is a member of the Trio14 group and one of the initiators of the Melchior project at IMEP, which aims to promote the conservation, transmission and practice of traditional music from Wallonia.
