Maritsa Ney began playing the violin at the age of 3 at the music academy in Bastogne (Belgium).
At the age of 17, she entered Mr Philippe Koch's violin class at the Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Liège. She also studied chamber music with Jean-Gabriel Raelet, and improvisation with Garrett List and Michel Massot.
In 2009, she obtained her bachelor's degree with great distinction, and in 2012 her violin diploma. Maritsa soon joined various orchestras on an ad hoc basis, playing with the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra, the Louis Poulet Orchestra and the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège. In 2008, she became titular violinist at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie.
Alongside her career as an orchestral musician, Maritsa is a member of several chamber music ensembles, including the Octocorde duo and the Aïda quartet. Passionate about human connections and experimenting with creativity, Maritsa co-founded the Orchestre de Chambre de Liège in 2014, which would later become the Listening or Listening Orchestra collective. A group of artists sharing common values of openness and connection. With the desire to blur the lines so that intuition and collective intelligence can flow freely. More recently, Maritsa has been writing string arrangements for various groups.
Maritsa Ney is also involved in jazz and improvisation. She is a member of Orchestra Vivo!, the UFO quartet and the Pauline Leblond double quartet. This multi-faceted violinist also plays for the theater. Notably in the play "genèse2" by Ivan Viripaev and Galin Stoev.
In 2024, she embarked on a new project as violinist in the play "Zazie dans le métro", adapted by Zabou Breitman. She also plays the sound blade. Currently, Maritsa is training at ULB to become a Mindfulness Instructor according to Jon Kabbat Zinn's "Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction" program.
