Zongo Kahamilou

Born in Ivory Coast on August 1st 1988 and raised in Burkina Faso, Kahamilou ZONGO is a versatile dancer from Burkina Faso. He started out in urban and traditional dance and theater in 2005. He trained in contemporary dance at the Ecole de danse d'Irène Tassembedo (EDIT) in 2010, then joined the Ballet National du Burkina Faso. He continued his studies in the Yeelen Don program, a professional training program at the Centre de Développement Chorégraphique la Termitière, under the direction of Salia SANOU and Seydou BORO. He took part in a series of performances, creating a world of his own. At the same time, he took part in the "Art of Teaching" training program at Ecoles des Sables in Senegal, under the direction of Lila Greene, Patrick Acogny and Salia Sanou.

He currently holds a UFR/ARTS degree in philosophy and aesthetics, with a research option in dance, from the Université Paris8 Saint-Denis. Kahamilou teaches African, urban and contemporary dance to adults and children in a variety of settings. As a performer, Kahamilou has worked in various new works and in reprise roles in Canada with Lua shayenne Dance Company in KIRA the Path, with Dominique Brun's company Les Porteurs d'ombre in Pierre et le Loup, as well as in Le sacre du printemps#2, and with Emmanuelle Grangier's company P.A.S, PhD in Art and Art Science, for the piece Prenez place. Recently, he played a role with Antoine Herbez's Ah company in Antar (a tale of dance, theater and music), as well as with Les Grandes Personnes d'Aubervilliers as a puppeteer.
