Sacha Alvisi
Meticulous and picky teachers, lovers of traditional New Orleans Jazz and Modern Jazz, charmed by all the movements that can be used on Swing music, the Alvisi have devoted their lives to their passion for Lindy Hop since 2009. Sax & Ale (Sacha and Alessandra in the civil status) were born artistically in the early 90s in the province of Bologna in Emilia-Romagna (one of Italy's historic dance regions).
Their artistic journey is very diverse at the start, from Boogie-woogie to Hip Hop, from contemporary dance to Twist via Latin; their paths cross on the dancefloors of the most important Italian competitions (for a total of 3 World Champion titles and over 20 Italian Champion titles).
In the summer of 2009, what had been two excellent dancers (in two separate couples), came together to begin a new artistic collaboration in a field that was still half unknown in Italy: Swing Dances! They started out as part of the first "Swing show group" ever to exist in Italy (the Wops) and, in 2011, formed their own performance company, the Nagasaki Swing Team.
In 3 years, with this group of dancers as crazy as them, they created, directed and performed two musicals totally focused on Swing dances (a first in Italy) which they performed on tour across the country.
In addition to following their artistic vein, Sax & Ale are beginning to understand that one of the ways to be happy, and to make others happy, is to share their passion for Swing, which is why in 2010 they inaugurated the first Lindy Hop classes in Bologna!
Over the years, the number of their classes has steadily increased, opening classes in Modena, Imola and Forli, as well as organizing workshops all over Italy.
After the adventures of the two musicals "The Club" and "Swing Express", they decided to move to Montpellier, France, to continue studying Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz at one of Europe's leading schools, SwingJammerz.
It's 2014 and their lives are about to change!
This new beginning makes the dream of becoming teachers and professional dancers almost a reality!
After a complicated start, mainly due to the language barrier, the first results began to arrive, they started as teachers in Montpellier and, little by little, they are noticed by the organizers of international Swing events.
Their career was off to a flying start!
In the last 6 years, they have traveled all over Europe teaching, between festivals and residencies, in over 35 cities in 10 different countries (Poland, Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, the UK, Switzerland and the Netherlands), reaching over 6,000 students! Now they're based in Brussels, where they run their school (around 700 students a year), trying to pass on their passion to as many people as possible...
All the while keeping their sights on a syncopated world!
