Biography


An eclectic musician curious about new sounds, Lorenzo Di Maio began learning music and guitar at the age of 9. In 2009, he graduated from the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles.

Since then, Lorenzo Di Maio has taken part in a variety of projects, including the 4in1 group (with Jean-Paul Estiévenart), with whom he recorded a debut album in 2008 that won an octave de la musique, but also Sal La Rocca Quintet, Fabrice Alleman quintet, Chrystel Wautier, Boris Schmidt quartet, and the Next.Ape group with Antoine Pierre, Veronika Harcsa and Jérôme Klein.

In 2019 he received the Sabam Jazz Awards

Alongside his sideman activity he is developing his own bands and has released 3 albums to date: BLACK RAINBOW (2016) for which he received the Octave for best jazz album, ARCO (2021) RUBY (2023).

Through these different experiences, Lorenzo Di Maio has had the opportunity to tour most of the Belgian and European stages, playing with musicians such as Ben Wendel, Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Nicolas Kummert, Fabrice Alleman,Toine Thys, Salvatore La Rocca, Thomas Bramerie, Philippe Aerts, Eric Legnini, Nathalie Loriers, Pascal Mohy, Nicola Andrioli, Hans Van Oosterhout, Karl Jannuska, Antoine Pierre, Jean Paul Estiévenart,...
