Benoit was immersed in the world of music from a very young age.

He began playing the violin with Raymond d'Haeyer and continued his musical studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of Georges Octors. He then specialized in early music at the Conservatory of The Hague, with Sigiswald Kuijken.

He soon joined the orchestra "La petite bande", which opened the doors to many European early music ensembles (Il fondamento, Akademia, Le poème harmonique, les folies françoises ... ).

He also helped found the baroque orchestra Les Agrémens, and regularly gives chamber music concerts.

Passionate about teaching, Benoit is regularly requested by Belgian and foreign institutions to supervise training projects in early music. He teaches Baroque violin at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he is also Chairman of the Early Music Department, and chamber music at the Royal Conservatory of Mons.
