Born into a family of musicians, Stéphane Wertz began playing guitar at the age of 11.

This favorable universe enabled him to give his first concerts at 12, his first studio sessions at 15, his first TV show at 16, and his first international tour in India at 25.

Although steeped in the world of French chanson, Stéphane undertook his artistic humanities (classical guitar) at the Conservatoire de Huy (with J. Delvaux), and continued his studies in classical music at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles et de Mons with Sergio and Odair Assad.

Stéphane continued his training in the world of folk/blues and jazz at numerous workshops with Jacques Stotzem and Jacques Pirotton.

Having studied classical guitar, folk guitar (fingerstyle and flatpicking) and electric guitar, Stéphane played for 15 years in a number of pop/rock bands (Philmarie, Mary M, CocoRoyal (Antoine Chance) etc.), and contributed to some twenty albums.

Stéphane regularly collaborated with artists such as: Thierry Crommen, Alexandre Furnelle, Constanza Guzman, etc. He played in a Blues project based on comics with E. Schreder, and also performs as a solo guitarist.

Stéphane is also very active as a composer/arranger for numerous artists, as well as for documentaries and radio dramas.

He has toured extensively in Europe, Switzerland, Algeria, Morocco, India and Cuba.

Stéphane is the author of 9 studio albums, as well as a concerto for two guitars and bansuri flute (created in 2013 with J. Delvaux and Manu Hermia).

Stéphane teaches guitar at the Institut Rythmique J. Dalcroze in Brussels, and during courses (Stages Internationaux de Musique Acoustique de Virton).
