Description

In this workshop, we will explore various playing styles, beginning with the fundamental sounds and rhythms of Middle Eastern traditions.

While firmly rooted in Turkish and Arabic music, we will examine how different African, Iranian, and Indian styles have influenced rhythmic thinking and bendir technique in recent decades.

From split-hand techniques and snapping rolls to Moroccan shaabi and asymmetrical Balkan rhythms, and including rhythmic compositions with Indian influences, we will explore a style that reflects the globalized reality we live in, all while deeply respecting tradition.
