Description

Emmanuela and Massimo invite you to immerse yourself in the culture of Southern Italy through the transmission of songs, exploring the timbre and performance styles typical of these regions, and examining the traditional link between song, dance, and rhythm that characterizes much of this repertoire.

Alongside the teaching of songs, the workshop will also focus on the study of techniques on the tamburello and tammorra, instruments typical of these regions and traditionally used to accompany this repertoire. Frame drums from Southern Italy are traditional percussion instruments of varying sizes, with or without cymbals. They are generally used to accompany songs, music, and dances such as the pizzica pizzica, il ballo sul tamburo, the calabrese tarantella, the siciliana tarantella, and others.
