Description

Birgit Bornauw and Joachim Loneux invite you to a week-long immersion in Walloon music through its dance repertoire. Internationally renowned musicians, they specialize in the close relationship between music and dance.

Their Walloon repertoire is rich in hidden gems (maclottes, amoureuses, allemandes, and more, as well as songs and couple dances) and infused with a healthy dose of musical creativity, placing them firmly within the realm of contemporary traditional music.

You will be invited to create an arrangement where the material (melody, counterpoint, accompaniment) will be adapted to each participant so that everyone can find their place within the ensemble, while maintaining a connection to the dance.

This workshop will also be an opportunity to build a bridge with the Walloon dance workshop led by Aurélie Giet and Julien Maréchal. You will thus have the chance to dance the music you learn to experience all the elements necessary to make the music comfortable for dancers.

This workshop is open to all instruments: accordions, strings, winds, and percussion. Birgit (violin and bagpipes) and Joachim (diatonic accordion, percussion) will complement each other perfectly to guide all facets of this ephemeral orchestra.
