Poncelet Serge

A Belgian artist living in France since 1983, Serge Poncelet is an actor, trainer and director, mainly at the Théâtre Yunqué (Montreuil). A graduate of Insas in Brussels in 1981, he hasworked among others on Arlequin with Ferruccio Soleri (Piccolo Teatro Milan).

After several roles in theater, film and television in Belgium and France, he joined Ariane Mnouchkine's Théâtre du Soleil, where he was an actor and permanent member for 8 years, playing numerous roles in all the productions from 1983 to 1991, and touring internationally.

For the past 30 years, he has specialized in burlesque theater, clowning and masked acting. He makes research trips to Asia and Latin America. He runs workshops in his company's theater in Montreuil, as well as in several cultural structures and theater schools in France, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Turkey, Brazil and the USA.

He has been a teacher at AKDT since 1992. He also taught at the Ecole du Samovar from 1998 to 2002 and regularly in August. He is also a lecturer on the comic actor and the mask at a number of universities (Rio de Janeiro and Montreal) and at the Ecole Boulle in Paris in 2018.

He stages shows mainly focused on the primacy of emotion, the engagement of the body on stage and the burlesque dimension of certain works: among others QuiQuoiOù (burlesque for young audiences), Crime and Punishment, Macbeth and Zakouski or the Joyful life.

With Guy Segalen, he created a new burlesque show in 2022: Le Manteau de Gogol (Gogol's Coat), in which he performs alone on stage. Performed in Montreuil, Angers and Paris. Operation in progress. As an actor for other companies, he is constantly on the lookout for new performing arts.
