Description
Welcome to this introductory class to the Charleston, the solo dance that was all the rage in the 1920s! If you want to immerse yourself in the world of jazz and African-American culture, this class is for you!
For one week, you will learn the fundamentals of the Charleston, a dance that is distinguished by its lively and rhythmic movements of the feet and arms, to lively music.
You will also discover the different facets of the Charleston, its variations and its influences. You will also work on the musical, stylistic and expressive aspects of the dance, to develop your sense of rhythm and your personality.
You will also become familiar with the origins of jazz, which gave birth to the Charleston and other popular dances such as the Lindy Hop or the Balboa.
Required level
From 100% beginners to maximum 2 years of experience
This class is for all audiences, regardless of your level, gender or dance experience. You do not need to know the Charleston or have a partner to participate. All you need is curiosity and enthusiasm!
