Description
Singing bossa nova means finding that “warm” timbre in your voice while tackling specific rhythms and harmonies. It also means discovering Brazilian poetry and its extraordinary melodies.
Antonio Carlos Jobim said of bossa nova that it was a meeting between Afro-Brazilian rhythms, popular music, classical music and jazz. It is this Latin American blend that you will discover during this course.
We will discuss the classics and pearls of João Gilberto, Jobim, Baden Powell, Chico Buarque. We will learn Afro-Cuban jazz standards (Tito Puente etc.). We will also sing polyphonic arrangements and work on polyrhythms that will certainly make you want to dance.
Knowledge of Portuguese and Spanish is not mandatory.
