Before registering, please read this document carefully, which presents the general operation of our music courses: Informations à savoir sur cette semaine d'ateliers
Description
The objective of this course is to offer an experience linked to improvisation, in the most open way and in the most diverse musical styles. Being able to improvise alone or with other musicians, in basic contexts and whatever the musical style, from very simple and universal frameworks.
To do this, the seminar combines three parts of improvisation techniques: improvisation tools designed to approach a modal framework, tools for tonal music, and finally tools to engage in free improvisation.
Personal research is constantly combined with collective dynamics. Everything takes place in a fun and caring atmosphere. Through these first experiences, everyone can discover how they can develop these particular tools for improvisation, in the same way that we develop them for composition or for interpretation.
Required level
A reasonable mastery of your instrument is necessary in order to be able to concentrate on improvisation techniques as such, and on listening to the group. The technique of your instrument must therefore be sufficiently easy not to be an obstacle.
This course is also suitable for professional musicians wishing to learn the basic techniques of improvisation, all styles combined, and via a universal approach to music.
For this course, all instruments are welcome, including voice.
Equipment required
Bring your musical instrument.
Students who have one are asked to come with:
- an electric keyboard and an amplifier and its cables (plus a spare in case of defect) for the pianists.
- an easily transportable amp and its cables (plus a spare in case of defect) for guitarists and bassists
- a drum kit (at least bass drum, hi-hat, snare drum, floor tom) and sets of sticks for the drummers
