Description

Together, students will play and experiment with the various elements of Django's music and improvisation in general: sound, time, harmony, repertoire, accompaniment, listening, finding one's place in a group.

  • sound: how to learn to listen to oneself and develop techniques to tame the timbre of one's instrument and bring out the warmest, broadest, most incisive sound... for accompaniment as well as for soloing?
  • time: how to place yourself in time to play which rhythm?
  • repertoire: learning standards specific to Django's style, with possible forays into other music with similar sound or harmony (e.g. Brazilian choro)
  • harmony: how can we deepen our understanding/perception of chord movements?
  • listening: improving awareness of one's own sound, that of others and their integration.

How do you learn to find your place in a group at any given time? Being able to make choices, being present, gaining self-confidence.

All these topics will be explored using active teaching methods (the student does the work) in group lessons, or in pairs or trios (to be defined according to the number of participants and their level), but always based on listening and research.

Required level

  • no music theory necessary
  • have a minimum of experience with your instrument

All instruments are welcome, but if it's not a guitar, contact the teacher beforehand to see how your instrument can fit into the ensemble.
