Description
We invite you to explore the body as a musical instrument and the practice of improvised singing in Circle Song.
Through exercises in singing and body and vocal percussion—human beatbox, skat, konakol, and more—you will playfully build your own toolkit and gain greater freedom of expression. We will celebrate this experience with a final concert.
Who is it for?
Anyone, beginner or experienced, who wants to explore and develop their rhythmic skills, their ability to improvise, and experience the joy of singing together. We will adjust the level of commitment according to the participants' profiles and needs.
The main stages of the workshop:
Group building: Connection games, practicing vocal tools: breath, timbre, sound, and rhythm, to foster confidence and creativity.
Exploration of rhythmic techniques: In-depth exploration of different rhythmic tools and systems.
Advanced Workshop:
- Practice and facilitation of improvised circle songs.
- For those interested, development of a vocal solo.
- Writing and composition of body music pieces in small groups.
- Consolidation: Rhythmic rehearsal sessions to integrate and solidify the compositions.
- Concert.

Each morning: Physical warm-up to create physical and mental readiness to sound and rhythm.
Circle singing and co-improvisation games:
After experiencing the joy of this practice, we will train in "codes": how to develop clear gestures that foster the unfolding of our musical universe and deepen our understanding of polyphony, solo, polyrhythm…
Body percussion
Rhythmic exercises and games:
- Working on rhythmic regularity and intermediate spaces.
- Developing psychomotor skills: grounding, sensation of support, and laterality
- Exploring binary and ternary cycles.
- Learning patterns from different cultures:
- Hambones, gumboot drums, stepping, Latin and West African polyrhythms.
- Polyrhythmic games.
- Combining voice and body percussion to simultaneously develop rhythm and melody.
Voice and Sound Exploration:
- Awareness and anatomical exploration: areas of the mouth, nasal cavity, throat.
- Breath control.
- Resonance zones in the body.
- Modulations and timbre variations, instrument imitations.
- Endurance, power, precision, and speed in rapid speech.
- Sound production during inhalation and exhalation.
Human Beatbox Techniques
- Introduction to common sounds: Percussion, bass, trumpet, guitar, scratching, electronic sounds, rolls, hisses…
- Dissociation and association of vocal and non-vocal sounds.
- Breathing: managing breath control and apnea, producing sounds while inhaling and exhaling, repertoire and practice of standard beatbox rhythms.

Level
The course can be adapted to all levels from beginners to advanced.
