Description
Variations for couple dances form the core theme of this workshop: mazurka, scottish, waltz, irregular waltzes, and possibly bourrées.
We will also learn several specific regional dances: dances from Gascony, Brittany, the Basque Country or Béarn, as well as variations for the jig and other mixers.
This core program will be complemented by additional dances, depending on the suggestions, preferences, and/or needs of the participants.
The common thread throughout the workshop is learning how to lead and follow well, and how to ensure clear communication within the dance.
We will learn different dances and variations than last year, even though the workshop description remains the same.
Aurora brings her experience as a contemporary dancer to offer warm-ups and exercises in support of folk and traditional dances.
Level
Beginner and intermediate level.
No prior knowledge is required for this workshop, which is open to both beginners and intermediate dancers. Approximately 40% of the time, we will work in two separate groups according to level.
Koen and Aurore provide individual exercises and corrections, allowing everyone to progress at their own pace, regardless of their starting level.
It is not necessary to register as a couple. For partner dances, we frequently change partners.
Requirements
Good dance shoes will help you dance better and with less effort. Please bring light, comfortable shoes that allow you to glide easily.
