Description
This workshop approaches improvisation through three basic contexts, covering a wide spectrum of musical situations: modal, tonal, and free improvisation. On the one hand, precise improvisation techniques are taught to address these three areas separately. On the other hand, various practical exercises will allow participants to explore improvisation in playful settings, sometimes just among themselves by inventing new frameworks, but also around texts recited by participants from other workshops, and around visual artworks.
The seminar is purely practical. Improvisation is primarily a group activity, but each participant is also encouraged to take time for solo work.
The aim is to demonstrate, through these initial experiences, that the driving force of improvisation lies within each of us, and to develop specific tools for improvisation, just as we develop them for composition or performance.
The entire seminar takes place in a playful and supportive atmosphere.
Level
A basic mastery of the instrument is required, enough so that the trainee can concentrate on their improvisation techniques, feeling somewhat free in their instrumental technique.
Equipment
The trainee is responsible for bringing their own instruments to the training session.
