Description
This workshop invites musicians to explore spontaneous creativity through free improvisation.
No style is imposed-the only things that matter are listening, curiosity, and openness to the present moment.
We learn to listen deeply to “ourselves, others, and silence” in order to create fleeting musical forms.
By playing together, we explore the intensities, contrasts, sound textures, and imaginary landscapes that our instruments can create collectively.
Ostinatos, organic drones, grainy materials, or unexpected sounds will naturally emerge from our exchanges.
Rhythm will also play an important role: sometimes as a shared pulse that connects the group, sometimes as a free element that breaks, shifts, or transforms.
We will discover how rhythm can create different atmospheres, generate tension or relaxation, and make a significant contribution to building a collective sound.
Free improvisation allows us to step away from habitual playing patterns, to use the instrument in new ways, to search for unusual sounds, or to let them interact differently with the space and with others.
Each participant is encouraged to dare silence, let their voice be heard, allow their own universe to emerge, and welcome that of the group.
In short, we practice:
- active listening and musical responsiveness
- the concepts of space, density, and silence
- time management
- the spontaneous creation of collective textures
- the use of objects or extended techniques to broaden the sonic palette of your instrument
- the freedom to interrupt, restart, remain silent, or transform
Each day offers moments of exploration, collective games, guided improvisations, and free creations.
A time to meet, share, experiment, and let music emerge in a vibrant, free, and surprising way-embracing the unknown.
