Description

The voice is undoubtedly the most natural instrument, as it belongs to our body and we use it from birth. In this workshop, I propose a journey of discovery through different countries and traditions, sharing songs from near and far with participants.

Body percussion is the use of the body as an instrument to produce sounds. This musical principle is instinctive and can provide rhythmic support to singing. We will explore different styles and phrasing (swing, groove, etc.) while working on the sound of the strikes in different parts of the body.

The combination of voice and body percussion opens up a world of possibilities!

Specifically, I will offer vocal, physical, and rhythmic warm-ups. We will also work on vocal pitch, polyphony, and practice rhythm independently through physical exercises designed to explore different meters, create polyrhythms, and explore various rhythmic approaches from different cultures (hambone, gumboot, panaderas, etc.).

Through singing and body percussion, we will explore a process based on creativity (both individual and collective) and rhythmic and vocal polyphony, all within a framework of listening, exploration, and trust.
