Description

What connects my voice and my body?

With an inquisitive eye, we will explore the connection between our voices and our imagination, between our voices and our bodies. We will ask ourselves this question: can we experience singing as a physical and emotional journey?

We will delve into the exploration of vocal timbres and textures. If I give my body a certain shape, does that change the sounds I produce? Can I use my body as a musical instrument, like a horn or trumpet, in which the wind flows, the walls vibrate, the cavities change shape as I move?

To get us through these different physical, visual and emotional states, we will go through times of improvising and learning tasty polyphonic songs. Our main tools will be singing and movement. But, as everything is linked, we will also seek out polyrhythm, theatricality, meditation and walks in the fresh air.

We will also pay attention to bodies (in the plural), in the power of the collective, the strength of the group. We will look for the overall effect, synchronicity, symbiosis, a common voice.

You will have understood, we're keen to take a step to the side, to take the group to an unknown place. Be ready to embark on this adventure, with the freshness and honesty of children, with the desire to play and try.

Our days could look like this:

  • morning ritual - to cultivate presence
  • complete warm-up - to fluidify and tone the body and voice
  • exploration of our cavities - to give breadth to the voice
  • learning a gospel - for the pleasure of polyphony
  • circle song - for the energy of improvisation
  • debriefing - to share our experiences

or to this:

  • massage of the body envelope - to do yourself good
  • blind walk in the forest - to listen to the world and sharpen our ears
  • research on the theatricality of singing - to give substance to the voice
  • polyrhythm exercise - to find a common groove
  • trance dance - to leave the mind aside
  • end of day boom
