Description

Chroma is the title of the book written by Derek Jarman around color in the last months of his life when he was losing his sight. It is a sort of autobiography through color where chromatic impressions, reflections and childhood memories mingle.

Jarman no longer sees colors but he can tell them, they are in his mind, his body and in emotion. It thus exposes one of the most powerful aspects of color: its sensory and emotional impact.

It is from this postulate that we will, through the practice of painting and dyeing, explore the physical and subjective capacities of color.

The internship will be structured along these two dimensions by combining technical learning and experimental research.

It will involve addressing the physical character of color from the study of its luminous impacts to the point of physically entering into it with the practice of large format and plunging one's hands into it, via dyeing processes. .

And like a chromatic diary, we will apply the colored laws in connection with our moods of the day, with the help of the different symbolisms of color, to constitute an intimate and pictorial repertoire.

We will work with colored drawing, watercolor, acrylic painting and vegetable dyeing.
