Description
Internship focused on the creation of small sculptures, objects, jewelry.
The techniques covered will be sand casting and lost wax casting.
"Sand casting" is a technique for manufacturing sculptures, objects or jewelry by casting molten metal into single-use foundry sand molds.
Ephemeral containers capable of receiving and preserving the imprint of a three-dimensional object and resisting the casting of molten metal (brass, bronze, copper, aluminum).
"Lost wax casting" is a precision casting process to obtain a sculpture, object, jewelry in metal (bronze, copper, aluminum) from a wax model.
Purpose of the internship:
Acquire the basic technique of sand casting and lost wax casting or perfect the techniques.
This technical learning can be coupled with form experiences in order to enhance the student's artistic research.
Required Level
Introduction and improvement, students do not need to have any particular knowledge.
Equipment required
Small sculpture or jewelry equipment (pliers, small sculpting tool, Bocfil saw, file, ...)
Metal to cast (brass, copper, silver, bronze), there will also be some available during the course.
Small basic shapes to mold (ring, small piece of wood, plastic shape, stone, small object, ...)
