Description

We embody the Hero by drawing on the powerful energy of the group. In a play in which the hero opposes the chorus, is encouraged by it or tries to upset its indifference, the actor finds the energy that enables him or her to play the major characters. This work is presented as a preparatory phase for the 'grand style': tragedy, great melodrama... in short, all forms beyond measure, although it is beneficial, in terms of charisma and listening, in more intimate forms of acting.

Scenic exercises and games are applied directly to the texts... Aeschylus, Shakespeare, Racine, but also contemporary works, from which we experiment with our freshly trained organic sense of acting, in a fundamental practice of acting: size, presence, listening, physicality.

Le Héros

  • Commitment

In highly coded theatrical forms such as classical tragedy written in alexandrine - Racine, Corneille ... - where the style of acting requires an economy of gesture - the intensity of the commitment is worked on in an interiorised way so as to breathe, despite the restraint, a force and a powerful impact into the stage action and give body to the alexandrine.Grandeur

The method also involves working on the scale and choice of body language to amplify the intensity of the performance, to enable us to be more present in tragedy as well as in more everyday, more "naturalistic" scenes.

  • Direction

We will learn to carry our voice - to speak far away rather than loudly - in a direction, towards someone or something, so as not to tire or even damage our voice, while at the same time giving it power and intensity.

  • Intention

How do we determine our character's intention and compare it with our own intention, i.e. "What do we want to communicate through the character we are playing?

The choir, our challenger

  • Intentions

In a group - a choir - for a given objective, there are a multitude of sub-objectives linked to each individual.

Achieving a common goal while respecting each individual's personality, avoiding blockages or aggression without forgetting each other - isn't that a real social project? Remaining an individual and at the same time being part of the world. In a way: "everyone plays the same orchestral score, with their own instrument".
