Before registering, please read this document carefully, which presents the general operation of our music courses: Informations à savoir sur cette semaine d'ateliers
Description
During these talks, we will address a few points which we believe are essential for any improvising musician, whatever their instrument and the style practiced:
- Notions of form, phrase, rhythm, phrasing... and how to integrate these parameters into an improvised musical discourse. (We have often noticed students have a better mastery of melody and harmony than form and rhythm.),
- Improvisation in various forms: grids, impro-free, tempo and non-tempo, various metrics, etc.
- Which repertoire and why?
- Ear training and listening tips.
And also issues specific to the guitar: Technique, real knowledge of the fretboard (melodically and harmonically), how to practice and explore your instrument.
Required level
This course is open to all musicians curious to expand their musical world and their practice of improvisation.
Equipment required
An acoustic guitar or an electric guitar with amp (preferable, for ensembles), spare strings. A Real Book might also be useful.
