Description
The artist's book, much more than a simple reading medium, is a work in its own right, a fusion of idea, form and content. A true testing ground for the artist, it allows the limits of the tradition of the book as an object to be pushed back. Through it, the artist questions printing techniques, materials, sequences and the very nature of the page. The artist's book often moves away from the classic structure, becoming a unique object that deconstructs the expectations linked to conventional reading.
In this context, color proves to be an essential element, an expressive force, but also a tool for reflection. Color, far from being a simple decorative ornament, becomes here a dimension in its own right. It is sometimes thought of as a common thread, a visual code that guides the reader in their exploration, or even as a dynamic play between the content and the container.
This course aims to immerse you in the world of the artist's book by emphasizing experimentation and research around color. How, starting from an idea, a concept or a “common thread”, can we give life to an original artist’s book? How can color, as a structuring element, enrich the message of the work while questioning the medium of the book itself?
The goal of the workshop is to approach the artist's book as a true creative laboratory. We will explore the multiple forms that an artist's book can take. More than just a question of format, it is about rethinking the way in which the book is designed, from the cover to the inside page, including the arrangement of the elements, the materials and the techniques used. The interaction between the content of the book and its container will be at the heart of the reflection.
Whether you are an artist, designer, or simply passionate about the art of the book, this workshop is an opportunity to explore the richness of this medium, by creating a dialogue between form, color and content in a personal, original work.
