Description

The Landscape as a direct experience where work on the pattern constitutes one of the essential points of this approach. If copying a two-dimensional surface in two dimensions presents no difficulty, choosing to draw on the pattern and therefore going from three to two dimensions is, however, much more complicated. During this internship, the work will be to address and resolve the difficulties inherent in the transition between these two dimensions because to draw a landscape you must make a certain number of decisions: determine its framework, stylize or interpret. It is also necessary to perceive the atmospheric perspective, the size ratios, the values of shadows and light, etc.

But most important of all, we must LOVE what we see, familiarize ourselves with its subject for as long as necessary, so that it becomes in our eyes like a long-time friend. The objective of this course will also be to develop in the participant their own artistic grammar, to target each person's sensitivities for particular modes of graphic expression.

Documentation will be made available to participants on artists who have treated landscape from Hubert Van Eyck to David Hockney.
