Description
Screen printing is an ideal printing technique for thinking about and constructing the image in color.
Through the practical learning of screen printing, we place our attention on the visual aspect of images, in particular on the effects produced by color relationships - observation, analysis and experimentation.
Content
Color chart: Become familiar with the gestures of printing through the collective creation of a duotone color chart.
What new colors are obtained by superimposing two layers of the same ink or different inks?
What interactions do we observe between the colored perception of an ink (or a paint) and the thickness of the layer? the qualities of the medium? the juxtaposition of another color?
This color chart, of which everyone keeps a copy, serves as a reference for subsequent experiments.
Creation: develop and carry out your individual project in screen printing.
Everyone designs their own series of images, makes their own stencils, and experiments with color relationships by printing different chromatic versions.
Method
Alternating, individual, pair and group work.
Document analyses, technical demonstrations, individual experiments.
