Description
Although the engraved novel was long confined to the interwar period of the last century, it has enjoyed a revival since the 2000s. Frans Masereel and Lynd Ward both invented and brought to near-perfection this practice, which remains eminently contemporary. Within the time constraint of one week, we will modestly attempt to reinvent this practice with each person's means and level.
Drawing on various documents, our emotions and aesthetic, readings and films, we're going to sketch out and print a few pages of a collective engraved novel.
