Description
Choreographer and dance teacher, Boukson SERE offers a course centered on traditional West African dances, practiced as they are but also modified and enriched by Afro-contemporary dance, his chosen field.
Steps are transmitted by imitation and progressive impregnation, in a spirit very close to tradition, where improvisation also has its place. Movement is based on the feel of live percussion music.
Encounter the musical and bodily particularities of one dance to another, discover what each movement and dance tells us, and how to move from traditional African dance to contemporary gestures.
This workshop will above all be a work around energy with a back and forth between work on oneself, on one's space, on one's axis and on one's dance with collective listening, an openness to each person's energy.
This work of listening and choreographic writing mixing different worlds all linked to African dances, will allow us, to the wild rhythms of the musicians, to have fun, laugh, let go, dance, smile and share in... the African!
African dance has a real social function, and can be found in almost all of life's important ceremonies: birth, baptism, marriage, death... It's a true union with Mother Earth!
These energetic dances involve the whole body, and are performed barefoot...
